The Cockroach Catcher II: Attempted Living---A New Review

Grand Canyon: Hasselblad Photo

Reading this book was like seeing fascinating, changing views of a kaleidoscope of life through the lens of a gifted medical practitioner. The Cockroach Catcher 2 is a three-sixty degree rounded offering from a man who has adventured and peered into almost every corner of the world, and captured the charming, the funny, the unusual and rare, from behind spectacled rims or his Hasselblad. Dramatic black and white photographs pepper the book.

Cod Liver Oil Tasting

The easy-going writing style is compelling and page-turning, especially when one realizes there’s no telling what the next pages will be about: medical narratives, underwater adventures, globetrotting tales often tagged by the crinkly-eyed doctor’s asides like when discussing Vitamin D, the sunshine vitamin abundantly found in cod liver oil, he added, “On our recent Norwegian Northern Light Cruise, the Arctic Crossing was marked with special rites: whistle signals, appearance of King Neptune and symbolic on-board baptism that involved swallowing a spoonful of cod liver oil and having a ladle of ice-cubes put down one’s back.”

Very informative even for non-medical readers, punctuated by a sense of the author’s charming humor and delightful to the last page!
